Tulsa Police say a 17-year-old boy went into the Burlington Coat Factory Sunday afternoon to steal clothes, but when it came time to make his get-away, everything went wrong.
First, they say he had trouble getting into the get-away car. Then, when the get-away driver saw an off-duty officer chasing the boy, he slammed into an innocent family's car, then, looked like he was going to hit the officer. Tulsa Police Sgt Wayne Allen, "The capitol officer said the driver was close to him, he was pinned between two vehicles and he came at the officer then as he was driving away, the officer fired six shots into that vehicle."
One shot went through the car's back windshield, the get-away driver, 18-year-old Edgar Thomas from Broken Arrow, stopped a few blocks later and called an ambulance, saying he'd been shot in the leg. The off-duty officer and an FBI agent who happened to be shopping arrested the shoplifter for larceny.
The off-duty officer is 25-year-old Marty Colvin who is a Capitol Policeman during the week; he'll face a Department of Safety Internal investigation.
