CLAREMORE, Okla. (AP) _ Actor James Whitmore, known for his one-man show ``Will Rogers' U.S.A.,'' will headline activities this weekend at Will Rogers Days in Claremore.
Whitmore will appear on stage at the Will Rogers Memorial on Saturday night for a special appearance before serving as grand marshal of the Will Rogers Days Parade on Sunday _the 122nd anniversary of Rogers' birth.
``For 30 years, Mr. Whitmore did more to promote the all-American image of Will Rogers through his extraordinary performances on the stage of the world than any other public figure,'' said Michelle Lefebvre-Carter, director of the Will Rogers Memorial Museums.
``His presence in Claremore underscores the respect and affection that Mr. Whitmore harbors for Will Rogers,'' she said.
Whitmore has won a Tony Award and an Emmy Award and twice has been nominated for an Academy Award.
