Two fired Owasso Police officers have their jobs back

Updated:
Two former Owasso Police officers got their jobs back Thursday afternoon. Burl Cox and Mike Denton were fired more than a year ago, but during a special meeting of the city council, both men were reinstated to the department.

Cox was accused of using excessive force against an inmate. Denton was accused of letting that behavior go unreported. An arbitrator ordered the city to put the officers back to work without punishment or loss of pay, but the city wasn't satisfied with the ruling and had been fighting it ever since.

Earlier this month, the officers and the new city manager resolved the issues. The city council approved the reinstatement Thursday.
