Gans gets town hall building from local hero

(Gans-AP) -- For the first time, the citizens of Gans have their own Town Hall.

The Town Hall is a gift from local hero Bryant Reeves, a former Oklahoma State basketball standout and now an N-B-A player known as ``Big Country.''

Town officials will be moving into Big Country's Grizzly Diner. Reeves' family ran the diner, which closed two years ago.

Town Councilor Eulis Wing says the gift is almost too good to believe.

The Sequoyah County town of 300 has almost no tax revenue and no money to buy a town hall. It had been renting a building for city business.

Reeves, a Memphis Grizzly center, was trying to sell the diner when he decided to give it to his hometown.

He says he plans to retire in Gans someday.
