Martin Luther King honored with student speeches

"Martin Luther King Junior's I Have A Dream speech has come true. Dreams can become reality." What if Dr. Martin Luther King Junior came to my school? Was the topic for Wednesday's King oratorical competition.

Four Tulsa elementary students have been preparing their speeches in honor of Doctor King for weeks now. None of them had ever spoken in front of such a large group before. Academy Central student, "Sometimes you can practice in front of a mirror and sometimes it can help you when you practice in front of your Mom and Dad." Clinton Elementary student, "Study hard and go to the library and get a Martin Luther King book and read about and then use the words he used in your own sentences."

The judges picked Brittany Hill of Skelly Elementary as the overall winner. The Gardere, Wynne, Sewell Law Firm sponsored the contest.
