Local Marines leave to reinforce anti-terrorism effort

Updated:
Some Oklahomans are answering the call to duty to fight the war on terrorism.

US Marine reservists based in Broken Arrow reported at the Tulsa International Airport Monday morning. They were there to catch a flight to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina as back up and for extensive training.

Major Jim Izen, "Essentially, their job is to reinforce the 2nd Marine Division. They'll be available for any kind of duty the 2nd Marine Division would normally do. They'll be doing both a little bit of training, matter of fact they have an outstanding training program package arraigned for them over the next year, plus they will be on call to respond to crisis worldwide."

The reservists are part of an anti-tank unit based in Broken Arrow.

Mike and Chandee Young were among those saying goodbyes Monday morning. You may remember them from a story we aired last week. They have been married a little over two years and say this will be the first time they have been apart for longer than a month.
