Disaster recovery centers to close March 16

Updated:

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Disaster recovery centers that were opened to help individuals and businesses affected by the January ice storm will be closing on March 16.

The centers operated jointly by the Oklahoma Department of Civil Emergency Management and the Federal Emergency Management Agency are located at National Guard armories in El Reno, Enid and Weatherford and at Hutchins Memorial Auditorium in Ponca City.

The centers are open from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Those who wish to apply for disaster recovery assistance will be able to call FEMA's toll-free application number, 1-800-621-FEMA (3362), or 1-800-462-7585 for the hearing impaired, until April 8.

Officials say more than 5,000 ice storm victims have visited one of the centers to meet with recovery specialists.
