Fox network to debut new trailer for 'Star Wars: Episode II _ Attack of the Clones'

LOS ANGELES (AP) _ A new commercial for the upcoming ``Star Wars: Episode II _ Attack of the Clones'' is set to debut Sunday on Fox.

The 2 1/2-minute trailer will be broadcast between new episodes of ``Malcolm in the Middle'' and ``The X-Files.''

Fox's theatrical division, 20th Century Fox, is distributing the Lucasfilm adventure, which arrives in theaters May 16. The film is a sequel to ``The Phantom Menace'' but occurs before events in the original ``Star Wars'' trilogy.

The footage will show some of the elaborate special effects and battle sequences in the new movie.

``We're going to see hundreds of Jedi, hundreds of lightsabers, thousands of clones, in a huge battle. The trailer gives just a hint of what's to come,'' said Lucasfilm marketing executive Jim Ward.

A previous trailer for the film appeared before the Disney film ``Monsters, Inc.'' and another was available on the Internet.

The latest trailer will also be shown before the 20th Century Fox animated film ``Ice Age,'' which opens March 15.
