Former OU baseball coach dies

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) _ Services will be held Wednesday for former Oklahoma baseball coach Jack Baer.

Baer, who won six conference championships and the 1951 national championship, died Friday at age 87.

Bear spent 52 years at Oklahoma, where he was a three-sport letterman. He coached the baseball team in 1942 and from 1946-67.

In the early 1950s, Bud Wilkinson made him football equipment manager. He kept that job, along with duties coaching OU's kickers, until his retirement in 1985.
