World-class soccer is on its way to Tulsa, in the form of a Trans-Atlantic game. Tulsa's Thunder Soccer Club brought in US world cup champion player Brandi Chastain Tuesday to pump up local players about the June match up.
Nearly 200-teams will face off for the friendship tournament, including a first of its kind match-up between the top women players from England and the US. Gary McDonald, Thunder Club President: "This will be an outstanding match in which the people of Tulsa will be able to see the game of soccer played at a world class level." Brandi Chastain, US World Cup Champion: "I'm just so envious, actually, of the opportunities you players have. I only hope that you take this opportunity and run with it."
Sponsors say proceeds from the game will help to develop the state's largest soccer academy.
