He's one of the most powerful and dynamic religious leaders of our time. And he's coming back to Oklahoma City.
The Reverend Billy Graham plans a trip this summer. The formal announcement came Tuesday morning. Graham is not new to Oklahoma. He made his last visit just after the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995. He decided to come back on the invitation of hundreds of city and church leaders.
Tuesday, the announcement was official. Oklahoma City will be one of only two Mission sites this year. He'll be in Oklahoma City, Father's Day weekend, June 12th-15th. The other stop, San Diego, on Mother's Day weekend. Everyone involved says this can be a very unifying experience for Oklahoma and the state's top leader agrees.
The Mission organizers will need a lot of help to pull off this event. They hope to recruit 15,000 volunteers over the next 6 months.
Oklahoma City could see 100,000 people - or more - come to be a part of Graham's mission. When the Reverend went to Dallas last fall - 250,000 people showed up there.
