Oklahoma Attorney General Drew Edmondson is wasting no time asking for an execution date for death row inmate Scott Hain.
The US Supreme Court has rejected an appeal by Hain's attorneys that would have set the minimum age for imposing the death penalty at 18. Hain was 17 when he and accomplice Robert Lambert robbed and murdered Laura Lee Sanders and Michael Houghton more than 15 years ago.
Both men confessed and were given the death penalty. But years of appeals have drawn out the case and kept the terrible memories fresh in their minds. Delma Houghton, Michael's mother, "You try not to concentrate on the way they died but it's there and it’s just it's changed all of our lives we will never have our lives back, we will never have grandkids from Mike."
Hain's execution could come within 60-days. Lambert’s appeal of his death sentence is still pending.
The mothers of both Sanders and Houghton say they plan to be there when the executions are carried out.
