Tulsa students take time to remember the shuttle astronauts

Teachers and parents have been struggling to explain the shuttle disaster to very young children.

A group of 5th graders at Riverfield Country Day School at 2433 West 61st Street watched the memorial service at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas live Tuesday afternoon.

One group of students has been studying space exploration - the shuttle program - and the astronauts. 10-year-old Amelia Crites, "I think it was just very very tragic and I really didn't believe my parents when I heard about it, I really didn't."

While like the rest of us - they couldn't believe what happened - they all believed the risk was worth it - to explore space.

The Riverfield students want to keep studying space - and want the country to keep exploring space - of only for the lessons yet to be learned.
