Jenks teen involved in suicide attempt headed to Gun Court

A student, who climbed onto the roof of the Jenks High School gymnasium and forced a lockdown last week, could face charges in juvenile court.

The 17-year-old threatened to commit suicide but surrendered after a couple of hours. Tulsa County Assistant District Attorney Michelle Bodine-Keely says if a gun charge is filed, he'd be referred to Gun Court. It's a program started three years ago to address the growing number of youths arrested with guns, but hadn't used them to commit crimes.

Officials say youths who go through Gun Court get a quicker trial, and a tight probation, to try and prevent any violent crimes with guns.
