NORMAN, Okla. (AP) _ Maria Villarroel scored 22 points and Chelsi Welch added 18 as Oklahoma beat Baylor 78-64 in a Big 12 Conference women's game Wednesday night.
Villarroel grabbed four rebounds for the Sooners (15-8, 6-4, Big 12). Welch had five rebounds and three assists, while Theresa Schuknect had 13 points, six rebounds and two assists.
Baylor (15-7, 4-6 Big 12) had a 39 percent to 34 percent field goal shooting advantage over Oklahoma in the first half, but the Bears still trailed 31-25 at halftime.
The Sooners improved in the second half to 17-of-33 and pulled away. They finished with a 45-37 rebounding edge over the Bears.
Dionne Brown paced Baylor with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Ebony Jackson and Melanie Hamerly each added 10 points.
Wednesday's game marked the first time the Sooners were not ranked in The Associated Press Top 25 women's poll since January 2000.
