A Tulsa Police officer shot an armed robbery suspect Tuesday evening after they say the man pointed his gun at the officer and refused to drop his weapon.

The shooting happened just before 7 o'clock Tuesday night. A clerk inside the Payday Loan store at 2305 West Edison was able to trigger the holdup alarm, alerting police. When officers arrived they found the woman inside being held at gunpoint.

Tulsa Police Deputy Chief Bill Wells, “ordered the man to drop his weapon that he was displaying, the individual turned the gun toward the officer the officer fired one shot, the suspect still was holding the gun standing and pointing at him. He fired another shot and backed out of the store with the clerk."

The clerk was not injured. Police say the suspect, 23-year old Rodney Robinson, eventually surrendered. Robinson was shot in the arm and stomach. He's at a Tulsa hospital and is expected to survive.

The officer involved in the shooting is Wesley Johnson, who's an 11-year veteran.
