Tulsa County health department employees get Smallpox vaccine

The Tulsa Health Department has started vaccinating its employees to protect against a Smallpox attack. The vaccinations started Friday. In all, 43 employees will get the vaccine. Right now those workers are the only ones being vaccinated, but health department officials say that could change in the future. "If the need arises - say there's an event - then there will be enough vaccine to vaccinate anyone who wants to take the Smallpox vaccination. It's already been manufactured and it's sitting in CDC or other warehouses waiting to be distributed." The vaccinated workers are part of the health department's Smallpox response teams that are assigned to treat Smallpox victims in the event of an attack.
