Winter weather blamed for death in Enid

Updated:
(Enid-AP) -- The recent cold snap is being blamed for the death of an Enid woman.

Police say the body of 84-year-old Geneva Beckwith was found in her home Monday evening.

The state medical examiner's office says the cause of death was hypothermia.

A police report says it was nine degrees outside and just 21 degrees inside the house when the body was discovered.

Police went to the home after getting a call from the woman's son who said he hadn't been able to reach her by phone.
