(Tulsa-AP) -- Prosecutors say a man who intervened in an apparent sexual assault in downtown Tulsa was justified in fatally shooting the alleged assailant.
Scott Denton will not face a homicide charge in the killing of Arville Lee Jordan Junior.
Police say Denton shot Jordan on January 25th after he heard screams from a woman in a parked car.
Assistant District Attorney Doug Drummond says Denton had a reasonable belief that he was in fear of great bodily harm.
The woman suffered injuries but managed to get out of the car.
Reports show that Jordan struck Denton with the car and was trying to back over him when Denton fired several shots.
Drummond says prosecutors still need to determine whether Denton had a permit to carry the handgun he used.
If he didn't, he could face a misdemeanor charge.
