Oklahoma Department of Public Safety without power

(Oklahoma City-AP) -- The state Department of Public Safety is without power and many of the department's services are closed today.

Captain Mike Grimes says essential law enforcement services are operating, but other services are not available.

DPS services closed today include size and weights permits, drivers license reinstatements, handicapped permits and copies of accident reports.

Grimes says the power outage was caused when a circuit going into the building shorted out and took everything else off-line.

Grimes says individual troop headquarters, law enforcement computers and driver's license examination stations are not affected.

Power is expected to be restored today.
