Oklahoma receives grant for bioterrorism preparedness

Updated:

(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Oklahoma is getting more than $18-million to help improve the ability to respond to bioterrorism attacks and other public health emergencies.

The money from the US Department of Health and Human Services will be used to continue planning and upgrading the public health system.

HHS Secretary Tommy Thompson says the money will help improve the health care system's ability to respond to a bioterror attack or the outbreak of a disease such as SARS or West Nile virus.
