Tulsa Police recover stolen car

A car that was gone in a moment turned up early Tuesday morning. Tulsa Police found the car that was stolen from a disabled woman two months ago.

News on 6 reporter Emory Bryan says it was something that could happen to any of us because this woman thought she was careful - but someone snatched her keys while she was moving groceries from the car into her apartment.

Amanda Joice has cerebral palsy - but the man who stole her car didn't know that. She was outside by the car when a man slipped into her open apartment door and grabbed her keys. When she went inside - the man walked right by her and stole her car. Amanda Joice: "I didn't see him come in my house because at the time I was hunched over getting my groceries." Police found her car Tuesday morning and arrested 26-year-old Charles McCarty.

The car was found - and McCarty arrested - after an officer running random tags through the computer discovered it was stolen. Joice says she left her keys on a chair - and in just a moment they were gone - she didn't realize it until her car - and her groceries - were gone.
