ARAPAHO, Okla.(AP) _ A boy was killed and his brother and mother were critically injured after she got in a traffic accident while trying to stop them from fighting in the back seat of the family's car.
David Lee Justice, 8, died in the University of Oklahoma Medical Center Thursday night after the accident on Interstate 40 in Custer County in western Oklahoma, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said.
Critically injured were his mother, June Justice, 39, and his brother, Andrew James Justice, 3. The family is from Clarksville, Tenn.
The mother was wearing a seat belt but the boys were not and they were both thrown from the car.
She told patrol officers that the boys were fighting in the back seat. She turned around to attempt to separate them and lost control of her car. The vehicle crossed the center median, overturned and came to rest on a shoulder of the highway.
