Traffic deaths up by a quarter for the year

(AP) -- The number of people killed in traffic accidents so far this year is more than 25 percent higher than at this time last year.

The Oklahoma Department of Public Safety says 340 people have died in traffic accidents this year. Last year by now, 265 people had died.

Twenty-nine people have died in crashes so far this month. By this time in June 2003, 22 people had died.
