(Lawton-AP) -- A Lawton policeman shot a man wanted by Kansas authorities for burglary and an attempted first-degree murder parole violation Thursday.

Deputy Ricky Snider shot Bobby Edwards in the arm after authorities chased him into an alley and found him hiding in a trash bin.

Snider shot Edwards in the arm after the lid of the trash bin was opened and he saw Edwards with an unidentifiable object in his hand.

The bullet went through Edward's arm and into his chest. He was rushed to the Comanche County Memorial Hospital and treated for his wound.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is investigating the incident. Snider could be placed on administrative leave.

Edwards was identified by police after getting into an argument with a woman in the Comanche County Courthouse earlier Thursday.
