Panhandle woman arrested in the death of her estranged husband

TYRONE, Okla. (AP) _ Oklahoma Panhandle officials started the process Friday to extradite a Tyrone woman whose estranged husband was found dead in a barn.

Texas County Sheriff Arnold Peoples said officers arrested Jackie L. Spaulding, 65, Thursday evening in Liberal, Kan.

Her 78-year-old husband, Roger Spaulding, was found June 15 on the property where he lived alone northeast of Tyrone. Investigators believe Roger Spaulding was fatally shot June 14.

``Although they're still married, they have not been living together for several years,'' Peoples said of the Spauldings.

More arrests could be made in the ongoing investigation, Peoples said.

Jackie Spaulding remained in jail in Seward County, Kan., on Friday evening.

Roger Spaulding had been living temporarily at a Liberal motel because of two fires on his property in May. He periodically went to Tyrone to make repairs.
