It was a day of patriotism at Drillers Stadium this afternoon. Dozens of people gathered at the Tulsa ball park to pay tribute military and civilian men and women serving our country in war. Tulsa's Blue Star Mothers organized today's event. Today's event was put on to raise money to buy and ship supplies they need for Freedom Boxes which they send to troops overseas. The event is called "Pack the Park for Patriotism". It was a small but very proud number of folks at the stadium. The day began with Uncle Sam giving a speech, followed by music, a flyover by the F-16's and a tribute to the Oklahoma men and women who have died fighting the war on terror. Paul Shaddox says he has a son serving in the war on terror right now. "My son Brian Patrick is in the 120th Combat somewhere in Iraq. We came out to support the Blue Star Mothers and the efforts the guys and young ladies are involved in." The event ended with a friendly game of baseball between the U-S Air Force Baseball Team from Tinker Air Force base and the Tulsa Men's Senior Baseball League who are law enforcement officers or veterans. Even though the stands didn't reflect it, the Blue Star mothers say the sold more than 6 thousand tickets.
