Baseball tournament good news for Broken Arrow's economy

Updated:
Some of the best teenaged ball players in the country are playing for a national championship in Broken Arrow. The tournament has drawn thousands of fans giving a big boost to the area economy.

They started with 85 teams from all over the country. After seven days and almost 300 games they were down to two. And a hometown team is the new champion.

And the Oklahoma Expos aren't the only winners the area economy is sure to come out on top too. The USSSA 14 and under World Series has drawn teams and fans from 15 states. Organizers say hundreds of people have cheered the teams on throughout the week despite the heat.

The Tulsa area has hosted the tournament for six years. But this is the first year, the RBW sports complex has participated. Owners of the park say they think hosting the World Series will really payoff.

Byrne Webb, RBW Sports Complex Owner: "To the park its been ya know its getting us people are starting to get more known about the park. And now they know we're out here and we're kind of far out in south Tulsa and a lot of people don't even know we exist."

The Oklahoma Expos had to win three games in a row to come away with the trophy.
