TOKYO (AP) -- Mitsubishi is scaling back production at its US plant in Illinois.

But the Japanese automaker won't decide by how much until September.

The plant has about 31-hundred employees, and can produce 180,000 cars a year. It made nearly 157,000 vehicles in the last fiscal year.

The plant produces the Galant, Eclipse and Endeavor for Mitsubishi. It also will build the Dodge Stratus and Chrysler Sebring until next year.
