Authorities arrest teen in connection with fatal Henryetta shooting

A 17-year old boy has been arrested for murder. He's accused of shooting his ex-girlfriend in front of her family's home in Henryetta.

He then led authorities on a 7-hour manhunt that ended with his arrest near an area lake. Police say 17- year old Cody James and 16-year old Rebecca Lynn Johnson broke up several weeks ago.

Investigators say early Tuesday, James walked up to a pick-up where Johnson was sitting with a relative and shot her in the chest. Police say Johnson was 10 weeks pregnant. She died at the hospital. A manhunt quickly got underway.

Officers say they used skills they learned in the month-long search for accused killer Scott Eizember to capture James. Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper Lt Brandon Kopepasah: "So we encompassed all of those new ideas on how to approach a situation of this kind and I think we were obviously able to use at this time and was able to make a capture here."

Cody James is being held at the Okmulgee County jail.
