Helping sell a house

Updated:
There's a fine line between a home that looks cluttered and one that looks warm and inviting. Sometimes it takes a trained eye to know the difference.

News on 6 reporter Rick Wells found a couple of Tulsans who make the American dream look a little sweeter.

Lots of people out looking for homes this time of year. For example, in Tulsa there is a home with four bedrooms and 2 and a half baths. There's an elementary school nearby, the sign says it has a pool. Realtor Deborah Green: "Sometimes a house just needs a little extra."

It's been on the market two months and the agent says its pretty typical mid-range house in the Tulsa market. So she's called in Kelly Smith and Vicki Walkup with Staging With Style, to do a little magic, maybe a lot of magic.

Kelly Smith: "This kitchen definitely needs some warmth. So were gonna bring out some pieces, we're gonna bring in pieces from other parts of the house. This kitchen is gonna have a brand new face."

Their objective is to make the house look better so it will sell faster. It's not always big things that need to be done, fold the towels and maybe get rid of some. A closet is too full. Vicki Walkup: "You're looking for a home to buy and the closets are all cluttered you're gonna think your stuff won't fit in there.” Sometimes moving furniture can make a room more inviting. Vicki Walkup: "From where I'm standing the room could be opened up a bit." Kelly Smith: "There's furniture upstairs that needs to be brought down."

They say the market is very competitive and sometimes a trained eye from outside can make all the difference.

The ladies charge an hourly rate and work for both realtors and home owners who've just run out of ideas. You can find them at 918-951-1535.
