CO2 gas leak at a Tulsa business

Updated:
A gas leak prompted the evacuation of a south Tulsa business Thursday.

A valve broke off a 10,000 pound tank of liquid carbon dioxide at Pace Products at 9315 East 55th .

Tulsa Hazmat crews made sure no one inhaled too much CO2 by plugging in a big fan inside the building.

They say carbon dioxide is harmless once it spreads into the atmosphere.

A 72-year-old man is dead after the portable building he was living in caught fire in Mannford. Neighbors say when they saw the fire around 7 a.m. flames were already through the roof. By the time firefighters got the call, it was too late. They say the man was using portable heaters, but it’s not clear if that was the cause. The State Fire Marshal is still investigating.
