Funeral services set for slain Marine

ARDMORE, Okla. (AP) -- Funeral services for an Oklahoma Marine killed in Iraq will be Friday.

The Department of Defense says Private First Class Nachez Washalanta the Second was killed Saturday in the Al Anbar Province of Iraq.

It had been previously reported that Washalanta had been killed in Mosul, Iraq.

Washalanta was a member of First Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, First Marine Division, First Marine Expeditionary Force.

He was one of four Marines from the Camp Pendleton, California, unit killed in fighting Saturday.

Washalanta attended schools in Ardmore and Silo. After getting his GED, Washalanta joined the circus before going to the Marines.

Services will be at 2 PM Friday at Heritage Hall in Ardmore. Burial will follow at the Gene Autry Cemetery.
