Gas prices 17 cents above last year's Labor Day average

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- AAA Oklahoma says high gasoline prices are not expected to keep tourists off the roads during the Labor Day weekend.

The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in Oklahoma is $1.77 a gallon, 17 cents above last year's Labor Day average.

The nationwide average is $1.87, about 13 cents higher than last year.

AAA spokesman Chuck Mai says 362,000 people are expected to travel by car and about 20,700 by air during the weekend.

Both estimates are slightly higher than the number of travelers last year.
