Oklahoma Democrats want Tom Coburn to apologize for comment

Updated:
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Oklahoma Democrats want Republican Tom Coburn to apologize for comments he made at a town hall meeting in Altus last month.

Democratic Party Chairman Jay Parmley said Thursday Coburn should be held accountable for saying - quote - ``crapheads in Oklahoma City,'' are the reason companies don't want to invest in Oklahoma.

Coburn is running against Democrat Brad Carson for Oklahoma's open US senate and made the remarks while taking questions from voters in Altus.

A Democratic supporter caught the remarks on tape.

Coburn spokesman Aaron Cooper says Coburn was referring to the state Legislature and its failure to address lawsuit abuse or worker compensation reform.

The Coburn camp says Coburn will continue discussing issues in a frank and candid way.
