NORMAN, Okla. (AP) _ It may look like a minor change, but Oklahoma coaches say Jason White will be lining up under center more often this season.
White's mobility suffered after two major knee operations, making it difficult for him to line up under center and forcing the Sooners into the shotgun.
But with his knees healed White is back under center and it could make a big difference in the OU offense.
White says running plays are more effective because instead of handing off to a back who is standing still, he can give the ball to a back who's moving toward the line of scrimmage. It also opens up the offense to bootlegs and play-action passes that are more difficult from the shotgun.
