Signature drive continues for grand jury investigation into Tulsa man's death

Updated:
The signature drive for a grand jury investigation into the death of a downtown business owner is at its halfway point.

Family and friends of Shawn Howard have taken out an ad in the Tulsa World. It asks for registered voters to sign a petition calling for a grand jury investigation. Howard was killed in a fight with a homeless man in June. Prosecutors decided not to file charges against Terry Badgwell.

Howard's family says the signature drive is a way to clear his name. They say he was a kind and caring man. Badgwell’s cousin Ristina Garcia: "I would like for people to know that Terry is not a bad person. He never was a bad person. I don't see anything in the past five years that would have changed him into a monster or into a bad person."

5,000 signatures are needed to call for a grand jury. The signature drive will run for the rest of the month.
