OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Some very expensive birds are coming to roost at Tinker Air Force Base.
About 60 F-15 Eagle fighter jets arrived today at Tinker from Tyndall Air Force Base in the Florida Panhandle, looking to avoid potential damage from Hurricane Ivan.
Weather projections show the hurricane could make landfall near that area early Thursday.
In the meantime, base officials say the fighter jets will remain at the base until it's safe for them to return.
About 40 airplanes landed at Tinker in mid-August to avoid possible damage caused by Hurricane Charley.
Those F-15 fighter jets departed Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in Goldsboro, North Carolina.
