OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Republican candidate for US Senate Tom Coburn has hired a campaign consultant from Illinois to help him in his race against Democrat Brad Carson.
While changes may be underway in the Coburn camp, his spokesman denied reports of a staff shakeup.
Jason Miller had been the campaign manager Jack Ryan, a wealthy investment banker seeking a Senate seat in Illinois. Ryan ended his campaign after reports of his sex club antics emerged.
Coburn and Carson are in a tight race for the Senate post vacated by Republican Don Nickles. Nickles is the leaving the seat after 24 years.
Recent polls show Carson slightly leading or tied with Coburn. Coburn held a lead of several points after winning the GOP primary on July 27th.
The Republican National Committee has shown an interest in this Oklahoma race as it could be factor in which party controls the Senate.
