OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) _ The son of Oklahoma State baseball coach Frank Anderson was involved in one of the Arizona Diamondbacks' two trades.
The Diamondbacks sent left-hander Brett Anderson to the Oakland Athletics along with five other players in a trade that brought All-Star right-hander Dan Haren and outfielder to Arizona Friday.
Anderson was a second-round draft pick in 2006 out of Stillwater High School and he skipped the chance to play for his father in college after getting chosen so high.
The Diamondbacks also traded closer Jose Valverde away to the Houston Astros in exchange for reliever Chad Qualls, infielder Chris Burke and right-hander Juan Gutierrez.
