NEW YORK (AP) _ Former Oklahoma standout Adrian Peterson is one of three rookies who were voted into the NFC Pro Bowl.

Peterson -- of the Minnesota Vikings -- is third in the NFL with 1,278 yards rushing and is first among running backs with a 5.9 average.

Peterson joins a roster that includes Washington defensive back Sean Taylor, who was murdered on November 27th during an attempted robbery in his home.

Taylor was voted in as the starting safety for the NFC squad.

The Dallas Cowboys have 11 players, including quarterback Tony Romo and receiver Terrell Owens.

Unbeaten New England leads the way in the AFC with eight players chosen, including quarterback Tom Brady and receiver Randy Moss.

Taylor is the first player to make an all-star team posthumously in any sport since goaltender Pelle Lindbergh made the NHL All-Star game in February 1986 after he died in an auto accident.
