Christmas Day Crash Leaves One Dead

SMITHVILLE, Okla. (AP) -- A Texas man dies Tuesday in a single-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 259 in McCurtain County. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 46-year-old Christopher R. Dayberry of Longview, Texas, sustained internal and external
injuries when he may have fallen asleep and the truck traveled left of the center line.

Troopers say the truck then ran off the left side of the road and struck two trees. The patrol says Dayberry was trapped in the wreckage for about an hour and 15 minutes before being freed.

His 53-year-old wife, Glenda, wasn't hurt.
