Since the ice storm, there have been countless acts of kindness. Neighbors have helped neighbors. Volunteers worked to clear debris. News On 6 anchor Craig Day reports one Green Country received a special blessing, and it came at a time she really needed it.

"A lot of limbs fell down on the front yard," said Anna Jimison.

The trees in Jimison's yard were damaged in the ice storm. But she had more pressing concerns. Her husband Allen was in the hospital.

"I wasn't really concentrating a lot on those trees except to tell people not to walk under them, you know," said Jimison.

Her husband of 36 years passed away on January 6th.

When someone came to her front door on Wednesday, she was writing thank you notes and grieving.

"I didn't want to open the door really," said Jimison.

A tree trimming crew looking for jobs stopped at her home when they saw Anna's downed branches.

"I said well, I know they need to be done, but right now, I can't think about that because my husband just passed away," said Jimison.

Then a few minutes later, a heartwarming thing happened. The doorbell rang again, when Anna opened the door.

"It was the guys from the tree service again. With an offer of kindness," said Jimison.

The guys at Gage Tree Service, which is based out of Alaska, offered to do the job for free.

"Just seemed like the right thing to do. It felt good to contribute, to kind of give back," said Scott Gage, Gage Tree Service.

The tree trimmers didn't want recognition. They just wanted to help.

To a grieving widow, the act of kindness means a lot.

"My husband would have been overwhelmed by it too, knowing that his family was getting help like that," said Jimison.

As the crew cut down branches, they also lifted Anna's spirits. A good deed she will always remember.

"It makes me feel really blessed. It just warms my heart," said Jimison.

Jimison says she'll pass along the good deed to someone else in need in the future and hopes others do the same thing.
