Cory Dorris would like to forget the recruiting process.

"I can honestly say recruiting was probably the most miserable time of my life," Dorris said. "It was awful. It was like having nine different girlfriends at the same time, it wasn't good."

His coach agrees that it's tough.

"It's pretty brutal," said Jenks football coach Allan Trimble. "The process can be so stressful and frustrating for these young men and yet it ought to be a time when it should be exciting because you get your college paid for."

The painful time resulted in a big pleasure. The former Jenks lineman is staying close to home, signing with the University of Tulsa.

"Tulsa could use a little more reason to go to a TU game," Dorris said. "I'll fill up the stands."

Trimble says Dorris' future is bright.

"Tulsa's got them a crown jewel there," Trimble said. "He's going to get a lot bigger and be an outstanding player for them."

Dorris is working hard in the weight room, knowing there will always be somebody looking over his shoulder.

"Once I'm signed they'll be looking for somebody to replace me the next day," Dorris said of the recruiting process. "That just gives me more motivation."
