There is a new speaker designate at the Oklahoma House of Representatives. Representative Chris Benge, a Tulsa Republican, was chosen by representatives Monday morning.
The need for a new speaker came after Lance Cargill resigned last week after it was reported he failed or was late to pay taxes.
The 101 member state House of Representatives will vote to fill the speaker vacancy. Fifty-one votes are needed to confirm Benge as Speaker of the House.
