Tulsa Police Department Releases Crime And Traffic Summary

Studies show Tulsa's crime rate is down by more than 5% over the past 3 years. The Tulsa Police Department released its summary of Part 1 Crimes and Traffic Enforcement in the City of Tulsa for 2005 to 2007 on Tuesday.

Studies show Tulsa's crime rate is down by more than 5% over the past 3 years. The Tulsa Police Department released its summary of Part 1 Crimes and Traffic Enforcement in the City of Tulsa for 2005 to 2007 on Tuesday.

Part 1 Crimes include all homicides, rapes, robberies, aggravated assaults, burglaries, larcenies, and auto thefts.

The study compares Part 1 Crimes as reported in Uniform Crime Reporting to the Federal Bureau of Investigation and all traffic enforcement within the city during 2005, 2006, and 2007. The report also includes 2007 Homicides by Motive Type.

Overall, crime has gone down over the past 3 years by 5.2%. But, when broken down, some specific crimes have increased.

The number of homicides from 2006 to 2007 increased by 12.7%; over the past 3 years, homicides have increased by 5.1%.

The number of rapes went up from 2006 to 2007 by 3.5%. But, over the past 3 years, rapes have decreased by 1.3%.

Robberies went up from 2006 to 2007, but overall have decreased by 6.7% from 2005 to 2007. Aggravated assaults went down by 8.7% in 2006 to 2007 and showed an overall decrease by 10.3% from 2005-2007.

Burglaries showed an increase by 10% from 2006 to 2007 and increased by 3.8% over the past 3 years.

Larcenies decreased by 6.9% from 2006 to 2007 and decreased by 9% over the 3 year trend.

From 2006 to 2007 auto thefts increased by 16%, but decreased by 1.4% over the last 3 years.

The Tulsa Police Department said there was an increase in DUI arrests by 4% from 2006 to 2007. DUI arrests have increased by 19.4% from 2005 to 2007.

The Tulsa Police Department summary also breaks down the number of non-injury, injury, and fatal accidents.

Overall, the total number of collisions has decreased by 3% from 2006 to 2007. Over the past 3 years, collisions have gone down by 5.6%.

The number of non-injury collisions has decreased by .76% from 2006 to 2007 and have decreased over the 3 year trend by 4.2%

Injury collisions also went down, but by a greater percentage. From 2006 to 2007 injury collisions went down by 8.6%. From 2005 to 2007 they went down by 9.1%.

From 2006 to 2007, the Tulsa Police Department said there was no change in the number of fatality collisions. Over the past 2 years, they have decreased by 5%.

The total number of citations issued from 2006 to 2007 increased by .3% and increased by 8.9% over the past 3 years.
