A project that's been talked about for years at the University of Tulsa is finally taking shape. Chapman Stadium is getting a new look.

"It's something that's been in the works for the last 15-to-20 years doing a renovation of some form," said TU facilities director Terry Hossack.

10,000 seats have been demolished on the West side to make way for luxury suites and a state of the art press box.  Chapman Stadium's facelift will also have new seats, renovated restrooms and concession areas.

"For the size of our school and what it means to our campus it's definitely going to be the number one stadium in our conference," Hossack said.

There's more changes at Chapman Stadium besides the seats fans will be sitting in.  All season ticket holders will be re-seated based on the University's priority points system.

TU's priority points is a method that gives season ticket holders preference on seat choice primarily based on donations to the athletics department and the university. Every four years men's basketball season ticket holders are re-seated based on the same points system.

"We've listened to the negative and reacted to the negative," Hossack said. "Some of the ideas that have come out of those meetings we've added to the project. Whether it's added costs or just enhances the experience for the fans."

Because of the renovations the Hurricane will play the first few weeks of the 08 campaign on the road before playing in the new digs against New Mexico on Sept. 20th.

"We really can't wait for this project to get completed and get some football games back in here," Hossack said.

You've heard what TU thinks about the Chapman Stadium renovations, now it's time for you to sound off.  Leave a comment in the topix block.
