Like any other sport comes the camaraderie and the stories of how you get a nickname like Rosie the Wrecker.

"I'm a bad driver and a fast skater and when we first started I hit the wall pretty much every practice," said Rosie the Wrecker.

Roller derby's drawn comparisons to physical sports like rugby and football, but to these girls, it's an entity all its own.

"It's totally its own thing," Rosie the Wrecker said. "The endurance, the training, and playing with that many different leagues and women, it's different."

"It's really just its own sport with its own rules. It's much different than football," the Scarlet Devil said.

So different that it has thrust the Scarlett Devil in a situation she never thought she'd be in.

"I've never been a very physical person and I've never been in a team sport before but there was something about it to where I had to give it a try," Scarlet Devil said. "It's been worth it."

As it turns out, Roller Derby's not your average sport.
