Standoff Suspect Found Dead In Jail Cell

A Mayes County man arrested early Tuesday morning following a standoff has been found dead in his jail cell.

A Mayes County man arrested early Tuesday morning following a standoff has been found dead in his jail cell. 

The Mayes County Sheriff's Office says Barron Davis was found unresponsive in his jail cell at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday.  Jail officials started CPR, called an ambulance, and transported Davis to a Pryor hospital. 

Davis was pronounced dead at the hospital. 

Davis' body has been taken to the state Medical Examiner's Office in Tulsa.  The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is now investigating. 

Barron Davis had faced several charges, including assault and battery on a police officer and shooting with intent to kill following an incident at his rural Mayes County home early Tuesday.
