Crews Prepping For Anticipated Snowfall

Salt and sand crews are gearing up for the snowfall.  The News On 6's Chris Wright reports ODOT and the city say they are in "monitoring mode" right now.

The trucks are loaded up and ready to go.  They are just waiting for it to start to snow, and for the streets to get slick.

In anticipation of the snowstorm, city crews were attaching plows and gassing up trucks by 7 a.m. Monday morning.

Considering temperatures were in the 70's on Saturday, the anticipated 10 inches of snow might seem out of the ordinary.  But the News On 6 weather team says four of the six heaviest snow falls in Tulsa history have actually happened in March.

You may remember the big storm back on March 8, 1994.  Temperatures were also in the upper 70's the week before.

Then, on the eighth, more than 12 inches of snow were dumped on Tulsa.

According to the National Weather Service, that is the most it has ever snowed in the city in a 24-hour period.

The city says it hopes this storm will not be a repeat of 1994.
